Philosophy

First and foremost, I am providing this service because I am passionate about fly fishing and want to share it.  I also want you to have the best experience here on our scenic, pristine rivers. In fact, the St. Croix and Namekagon rivers are designated National Scenic Riverways.  Of course, everyone wants to catch fish and I believe that after spending the majority of my summers on these rivers I have the knowledge to deliver a great fishing experience.  But, as you and I know there are going to be days when the fish don’t always cooperate. That being said, those are the days when you start noticing and appreciating other experiences on the trip like bald eagles, river otters, the occasional black bear or bobcat and simply just the sound of the river.  I really believe in catch and release and try to use barbless hooks when possible. If we want to preserve these beautiful rivers and all that they offer we need to do our part.

Schedule & Expectations

As the water temperature heats up, so does the fishing.  Typically, if you are pursuing smallmouth bass or musky, the best months are June through August. My experience has shown me that the fishing gets better as the day progresses and mid week days have much less pressure. Many times we are the the only ones on many of the stretches of these rivers. You can email me at westernwisconsinflyfishing@gmail.com or call : Home: 715-549-5385  or Cell: 715-338-9007.  When you do call, let me know what your expectations are and if there is a specific river you want to fish.  This is your trip, and I will do my very best in making the experience something you will always remember!

Students on the River

My real job for the past 24 years is being a teacher. I have also taught fly fishing classes to kids and adults for the past 7 years. For each trip that I book, I will donate a portion to educating and connecting kids to fly fishing and becoming a steward in their environment.
